A
Choreographers' Showcase began as a premiere collaboration
between NBT and Cirque du Soleil
on December 2, 2007 at Treasure Island Hotel & Casino. This collaboration
creates an avenue of growth for local performers while providing the Las Vegas
cultural community with a dynamic and completely organic dance experience. This
yearly partnership has raised NBT's visibility on the Las Vegas Strip while
enabling Cirque du Soleil to
further root itself in the local cultural community.
Now in its fifth
year, this critically-acclaimed production will include encore performances from
previous years as well as original choreographed pieces. Performers and staff
from all seven Cirque du Soleil
shows will participate in creating this year’s event.
“We are proud to
present the fifth edition of our unique collaboration with Cirque du Soleil,” said NBT Executive
Director and CEO Beth Barbre. “Working and creating together, the artists of
NBT and Cirque have been able to develop performances of surprising power and
diversity. They have broadened their horizons, deepened their artistic skills
and inspired each other and the community.”
“At Cirque du
Soleil, we believe that beyond our own creations, it is
essential to help showcase our artistic community,” said Karen Gay, Director of
Global Citizenship for Cirque du
Soleil. “It is with this in mind that Cirque du Soleil’s Cultural
Action was born over 10 years ago. The company supports more than 100 artists
and artistic institutions annually in various ways and is involved in many
cultural development organizations and programming like A Choreographers’ Showcase.”
