Best thing I have seen this year and it gets a 91 for starting 9 minutes late A-, the show itself could not have been better, could have been on time and longer.
This show at UNL Artemus Ham Concert Hall, part of the ongoing New York Stage and Beyond Series.....this one was beyond beyond !
Passion and Sensuality of the Tango Art Form from the streets to the Ballroom. Five pieces, piano, bass, guitar, accordian and violin with the perfect level and tempo for 10 world class Argentine dancers. Lidia Segni choreographed this masterpiece story and the dancers looked like they had been practicing every day of their lives....they made her proud with their precision, skill and timing. Great athletes, beautifully costumed, always in step (some look for missteps and errors but none were to be found this night). If you have seen the Tango before it usually carries a mood, an attitude, a personna.....not this time as the entire performance was a story line in itself with some camradiere and visably pleasant interaction among the dancers in contrast to the usual haunty aire it carries. This and or similar shows have appeared here before, none better than this, even the Argentines have to be late, it's international disease.
