It was a grand night for singing...Signature productions at the Summerlin Library theatre in Las Vegas thur April...you should go.
Lets do the negatives....late (3 minutes), loud (just a bit), dark (not Spamalot lighting and often the singers were in the dark) ok....here are some more....I don't care for multi singers...duos, trios, quads, quints....unless you are going to bring back the Mills Brothers....I also don't care for rearrangement of the standards (lots of this done here) and finally this multi juxtopostion of boys and girls seemed akward. The program was crappy...no song lineup or info...no dates and no how to buys...no general look to tell what I was seeing. Ok its my report...THE WHOLE SHOW WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO OVERCOME ALL THIS.
Pluses....Rogers and Hammerstein...that is one great start...five really talented people who really worked hard and gave me the idea they enjoyed what they were doing (locals Danielle La Vancer Juenker, Peggy Micco Koning, Justin Rodriguez, Lamont Russell [ Lamont could have done the 96 minutes alone for me] and Ashley Walman) ....they were all good. Live music, Danile Bernbach....thank you....the sound in this library pretty good...Steve Wallis.... and nice stardard costumes, Sandra Huntsman. The premise, great...we could hear the lyrics...is not that the mission ? When Lamont sang, This Nearly Was Mine at the end, it made my day.
THIS WAS A DAMN GOOD SHOW..... 95 A
