I have told this story before and will again, I hope, it means a lot to me.
31 March 1966, at 21 I arrived at Tan San Knut air force base in Viet Nam at 3 in the morning, during the in processsing for young soldiers Armed Forces radio was on, the first thing I heard was Lightning by Lou Christie, I some how felt at home and some how felt an alliegence to Lou...still do ! ! !
Now 40 years later Lou is still rocking and still wailing in that old falsetto voice, still touring and you just have to love him, this three day run at the Sun Coast in Las Vegas. I like this theatre, sound Sunday night, not perfect not really good, Lou was2 minutes late, not too dark, nice crowd....74 minute show and we learned something about Lou.......pretty good songwriter Lightning, Two Faces, Rhapsody in the Rain and the theme for the movie Rainman. Lou with that great voice still pretty close to the original..... like Eddy Arnold and Frankie Laine this would have ben something 40 years ago. It still is something just not like when we were 25 !
10 pieces, 4 horns, 2 backups, 2 guitars, drummer and keyboard, they and the show appeared to not having had a long history together....I still loved love the whole thing, all, I mean good music...to hear the words....band was too loud.... 89 B+
Sunday afternoon World Steps, Horse Crek Intertribal Dancers at the Winchester Center...not a good sign when there are people in line at the door at kickoff.....not ever good when somebody or bodies in the crowd get up on the stage....I did not come to see them. These community shows need our support tho with city budget cutback and they need our support in general.....colorful and interactive....77 C.
