NEVADA POPS

by ED Bruce edbrucevegas@yahoo.com

ANOTHER FINE LAS VEGAS TREASURE.

This the tenth anniversary of this gem's existence and it is always first class and ALWAYS minutes late.

I am pretty much covering events that allow access, thus this over UNLV football on this date, obviously the right choice if buying an entertainment ticket.

Just the opening of the great American songbook.....Wilson, Copeland, Berstein and the daddy to this whole deal Richard McGee. McGee, music professor at UNLV, is conductor, organizer, player, narrator, team player and all around good guy....always a refreshing experience to share a little space on earth with this guy.

Pops, mostly horns with some chorale singing.....never good to have more than one person sing unless you are the Mills Brothers ! I especially enjoy the insight on each music piece allowing me to learn as well as enjoy. McGee talked of the Ham Hall as the only musically perfect sound hall in Las Vegas and its two million area population.....TRUE....accoustics almost always perfect.
With one exception.....McGee's original Las Vegas Rhapsody narrated by the worlds happiest mayor Oscar Goodman ! Good music, good script, bad execution....music is so loud you cannot hear Oscar.....they did this before this way and it was equally overpowering.

I had a swell time !
