OH WHAT A NIGHT IT WAS !

OH WHAT A NIGHT FOR MY FIRST REVIEW OF 2009 !

Music from the FOUR SEASONS-Frankie Valli songbook......the premise so strong that it had to be great. IT WAS !

During the show I was thinking .....what are the great, great, songbooks of our times....Lennon McCartney, Sedaka, Manilow and now probably this ! So many great songs, great music, great lyrics, top hits........they said 30 in the top billboard lists.....this is a hell of deal and right up there in the top ten. You do not get tired of Dawn, Sherry, Walk Like a Man and Rag Doll.

A new show.........four guys.........all talented......... canned music, full house, three nights at the Sun Coast Casino Showroom designed entertainment for us old farts.....we loved it. Tribute groups are still tops on my list and when the songbok premise is as strong as this it's a winner.

This show in its infancy can grow and be better, I was thinking Forever Plaid went six years at the Flamingo Hilton and while this is not nor can it be Jersey Boys the music is just as good.....wow imagine lyrics where you can hear the words, sing along and enjoy in each show.

They were late 6 minutes....69 minutes for the show.....good production and a good technical system in this theatre.....not too loud and not too dark. Obviously a live band behind them would kick up the quality a notch and I would like to see this rewritten ! The order of the songs and the elimination of cornball jokes.....like good orchestra narration.....a little history on each song could do this....and all these songs pretty much have a story with a salute to primary songwirter Bob Guadio.

This like the Beattles tribute show can fly on its own songbook....just don't screw with the music ! Beattles tributes do not do Michelle, Beach Boys tributes do not do In My Room and Oh What A Night did not do all of BYE BYE Baby Good BYE....medleys are never good and in this floormat they have time for the whole song ! THANK YOU !
