DON RICKLES

BY ED BRUCE edbrucevegas@yahoo.com

At 8:04 the curtain opened to reveal an 18 piece band and singer Michael Martucci.

He sang. 40 minutes ! Not enought !

The last two years of Frank's life he, Frank, toured with friend Don Rickles...the Sinatri songbook opened up here like a piece of heaven. The greatest opening act ever...unfortunatley to surpass the headliner. Martucci took the Nelson Riddle-Vinnie Falcone arrangements and delivered them to a tee. A friend told me he closed his eyes and enjoyed the lyrices as if Frank were there....God this was great. The sold out house at the Orleans showroom loved it...me too. Here is act the Orleans can bring back to headline ! Great sound system in this theatre as always.

Rickles....yah he tried...at 82...the end is near and it was impossible for him to reach the level of the opening act. 51 minutes of a weak old act !
