LES BALLETS TROCKADDERO DE MONTE CARLO

BY ED BRUCE edbrucevegas@yahoo.com

The perfect 65th birthday present for the old Las Vegas entertainment writer !

If you love the ballet and if you love comedy and you love the combination...BINGO !

From the program a better description I could not write........
The original concept of LES BALLETS TROCKADERO DE MONTE CARLO has not changed. It is a Company of professional male dancers performing the full range of the ballet and modern dance repertoire, including classical and original works in faithful renditions of the manners and conceits of those dance styles. The comedy is achieved by incorporating and exaggerating the foibles, accidents, and underlying incongruities of serious dance. The fact that men dance all the parts--heavy bodies delicately balancing on toes as swans, sylphs, water sprites, romantic princesses, angst-ridden Victorian ladies--enhances rather than mocks the spirit of dance as an art form, delighting and amusing the most knowledgeable, as well as novices, in the audiences. For the future, there are plans for new works in the repertoire: new cities, states and countries to perform in; and for the continuation of the TROCKS' original purpose: to bring the pleasure of dance to therwidest possible audience. They will, as they have done for thirty four years, "Keep on Trockin'."

Anyway...I have seen this before and hope to live long enough to see it again.

Just world class entertainment in every way.

The staging perfect...14 world class dancers with acting talent...they are from all over the world.

The companys classic piece Swan Lake with the great Tchiakovsky music better than ever with the worlds best Odette...marvolus timing in the comedy and dance...best Swan Lake I have ever seen in any context.

The overall dance ability overwhelming to me...especially nice to see everyone working together in the big picture unlike the Moscow Ballet on this stage at UNLV two nights earlier.

Costumes, music and overall production just perfect...nothing missing here.

93....A....7 minutes late.
