VEGAS THE SHOW

BY ED BRUCE edbrucevegas@yahoo.com

OUR EXIT FROM VIET NAM WAS MORE ORGANIZED THAN THIS MEDIA NIGHT PREMIERE

JESUS THIS DISORGANIZATION WAS AWFUL

I CAN ONLY REPORT MY EXPERIENCE

I REMAIN THE ONLY PERSON ON EARTH EXPECTING EVERYTHING OR ANYTHING TO START ON TIME

I LOATHE STANDING IN LINE

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....

This premiere at the Planet Hollywoodd on Thusday managed to get me into an awful funk before kick off and then actually overcame it with a hell of a show.

6 p m pre show drinks and 7 p m show.... thats what it said on my invitation. At 646 when I expected all the other free loader uppie types to be in and sauced up hundreds stood in line to receive free media seats...I broke line and watched 8 people pass through in 12 minutes...you do the math on how long this protocol would process the line. Evidentally nobody cared but me. At this point I was actually surprised that they had my rsvp and less than a minute admitted me...what else was going on I do not know other than lots of cleavage (which was lovely) failed to process the rsvps and the long line. A guy....a guy took my rsvp and scribbled seat number longhand onto a business card and wished me well...great to see the ushers in this theatre with flashlights trying to read these codes for seats and put people in their right postions in the dark under rap music...awful...incredible. Is this the experience ticket buyers can expect...lets hope not. Programs were handed to those on the aisle and asked to pass along...we did. Would not press kits be helpful here, instead of all my negativity I could have read them !

ANYWAY THERE WAS A SHOW.......

After some complimentary remarks and kudos they dropped the puck at 758 for a 700 target date.

REALLY EXCELLENT SHOW...LOTS TO LIKE !

David Saxe Creator Producer has dropped hundreds of thousands of dollars into this with nice sets...great costumes...outstanding talent and production on a relativly small stage....I thought the dancers at full speed used the stage perfectly. Previous white elephant Steve Wyrick would have loved to see this crowd in any of his shows here !

A neon sign graveyard established the theme...history of Las Vegas shows...it seemed to be a slow opening...I was sort of expecting a bang...but after the wait anything was welcome.

A first class 84 minute show...it has been playing previews for a few weeks and there is work to be done....I am hoping for success here and look forward to some minor touch ups.

The theme produced most of Las Vegas history with a nice Elton John piano set under a Las Vegas tribute video that I liked. We had Frank and Dean and Sammy and they were all great with songs and production numbers including the multi costume changing dancers...good...full speed...they did not hurt the vocals. Really outstanding male singers...Gabriel Burrafato could have done a solo vocal concert for me !

I suppose my favorites were the Nicholas brothers (maybe the third generation of great duo tap dancers) boy were they fast and athletic in three sets..I hated them because they were so young, athletic and good looking. Sean and John Scott identical twins...headliners for me...I could watch them every night.

Joseph Gabriel long time local magician did a puppet piece on Liberace thay played poorly and then he came back with some of his too brief stand up magic. I always wondered how the parrot knew how to make one lap over the audience and then return to Gabriel's arm....not this night...the parrot missed the arm on lap one and landed in the audience on lap two...great distraction showing the variables of live theatre.

All my reviews lose one point for every minute late so instead of starting with 100 they started with 42...all shows judged on the greatest, Sammy Davis Jr...a high level and their sammy was a high level.

If you can tolerate the delays...this recommended to the world.
