LAS VEGAS, NV - (Wednesday, March 30, 2011) - Nevada Ballet Theatre (NBT) is pleased to present Beyond Words & Text: The Studio Series, a two-week engagement at the company’s world-class Summerlin facility, beginning Thursday, April 7 through Sunday, April 17, 1651 Inner Circle, Las Vegas 89134.
Beyond Words & Text: The Studio Series will feature short dance “sketches” choreographed by NBT dancers and will give patrons the opportunity to experience an informal performance in Nevada Ballet Theatre’s main rehearsal studio.
“The idea behind this series is to encourage and inspire new creative voices from within the company,” said Artistic Director James Canfield. “These performances will give audiences a unique and more intimate dance experience that will bring people closer to our art form.”
The choreographers: Ashleigh Doede, Jeremy Bannon-Neches, Anthony Paparelli, Barrington Lohr, Kalin Morrow, Alissa Dale, Grigori Arakelyan, Sarah Fuhrman and Krista Baker were challenged artistically and instructed to rely on the choreographic movement and how it relates both to the music and narrative they each chose.
Visually transformed into a black-box style theatre with minimal production elements, performances will feature works loosely-inspired by literary characters, cartoons, fables and fairytales such as The Velveteen Rabbit, Amadeus, The Jungle Book, Death of a Salesman, The Scarlet Letter, and 3 Little Pigs & the Wolf among others.
