BEATLESHOW

Among the the great treasures of living in the great city of Las Vegas....for me....is to jump in the car drive five miles to the strip and see the Phanton, Jersey Boys, Terry Fator or a Beatles show at any time.

Preconceived theories and prejudices are involved here. Lennon- McCartney are, reamin.... and will always be the worlds greatest composers.... LYRICS....they have a 50 year track record to prove it....MUSIC FOR THE AGES.

So today I had a wild hair for the Beatles and I race to VTheater at Miracle Mile Shops Planet Hollywodd Resort and Casino.

Beatleshow....a Saxe & McCoy production.....for blame or credit as you see fit.

It started on time with a dipso warm up act that prevented move Beatle music !

This unforturnately for me was a prodcution show....we got the warmup, video and now Ed Sullivan comes out and does jokes....more delay for the real thing.

Opening segment with the black suits and greasy looking wig mop tops, they did Hand, She Loves You, 8 Days a Week, Hard Days night....you get the idea....more Ed Sullivan...2 dancing girls and Austin Powers for a bridge....addition by deletion the thought for me.

At this point Paul appeared on a floating lift in the back of the theatre to do Yesterday ......right handed....that while faking a left hand guitar player on stage, I know I am the only one who caught this....doesn't mean shit....why not just have him play for real righthanded on stage, I know Paul is lefthanded.....he will be when returns to Las Vegas June 11th !

I liked the cute 60's video of English street people aping the Beatles lyrics.

We did the Sgt Peppers segment....too loud and with recordings just the opposite of what Ed Sullivan told us a the top of the show....I always love the costumes...I have seen parts of this revamped show before, I am sure with alterning actors....this certainly not the strongest of my history here.

More costume changes and a fair Imagine with John chewing gum....in another segment an audience member joins the group for a tamberine addition....audience participation the worst ides since parenthood.

Always great to catch Here Comes the Sun, an everyday uplifter....a decent Revolution, Hey Jude and unfortunatley medleys.....I never want a medley and least of all a Beatles medley...do it all or not at all.

Lots of horns and whistles and lights and noise and of course the opportunity to shine two spotlights from the back of the stage right into my face....an experience I enjoyed only less than my orders for Viet Nam.

The deal is to do the music and do it true....gee it is only the best stuff ever....if not perfect or even great this was at least on the right track.....and with some wonderful deletions I could have had..... Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane, Golden Slumbers, Lady Madona, Maxwells Hammer, Mother Natures Son and endless others.....gosh what writing.

This was all right for what it was....recommended to the world...open for improvement !
