I have a special love for this performer....one of the great American songwriters !
Gatlin now 63 appearing at the South Pointe Casino Theatre on a 3 night run just folksy, fun, historical and the genuine good guy he has always been.
For an old fan like myself this is just "feel good stuff".
Gatlin touring with brothers Steve and Rudy for over 40 years remains the showman and lead performer...he is just a natural showman...all American flag flying patriot who has written songs for almost 50 years and still grabs the spotlight with his homey one of the guys approach.
I first interviewed Gatlin 30 years ago in South Dakota when he was then on one of his righteous causes...something he still profess and he always seems to be on the right side.
After opening with God Bless America...the Gatlins run through the Gatlin songbook...the true essences artistry....singer songwriter.
It has been a long time since I heard All THE GOLD IN CALIFORNIS, NIGHTIME MAGIC AND BROKEN LADY.....what nice stuff...you can still get the lyrics here...not too late...not too loud...not too dark...JUST RIGHT.
The South Pointe entertainment lineup again steps to the head of the class with continued class acts...here again to sold out houses....Gatline thru Sunday and hopefully on return trips here.
