The Baddest Body in Sports Set to Retire
Two-time PBR World Champion Bushwacker makes 2014 his farewell tour
OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 23, 2014) – Julio Moreno, one of the most successful stock contractors on the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS), announced at a press conference in Oklahoma City today that his most famous and successful bull, Bushwacker, will retire at the end of the PBR’s 2014 BFTS season. The athlete which ESPN The Magazine dubbed the “baddest body in sports” in its 2013 Body Issue will make his last appearance at the 2014 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas, Oct. 22-26.
“Every athlete deserves to go out on top,” said Julio Moreno of Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls and owner of Bushwacker. “Bushwacker has nothing more to prove to me. His has earned the honor of having his name forever engraved in the history books.”
Bushwacker’s Farewell Tour begins in Oklahoma City this weekend on Saturday, Jan. 25, when he meets his nemesis and reigning PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney in the 15/15 Bucking Battle. The 15/15 Bucking Battle features the world’s Top 15 bull riders against the world’s Top 15 bulls in a special round of competition for additional prize money and a chance to earn double the points towards the world standings. As No. 1 in their respective ranks, Mauney and Bushwacker will meet for the 12th time in their careers on Saturday night. This matchup will air on Sunday, Jan. 26, at noon ET on CBS Network Television.
A stop in Anaheim, Calif., follows Bushwacker’s Oklahoma appearance. The Farewell Tour will consist of 11 regular-season events and the PBR World Finals:
