Schedule for 2014 USA Sevens Rugby Tournament in Las Vegas Includes Four Hours of Live Broadcast from NBC Sports Group
LAS VEGAS – Dec. 12, 2013 The 2014 USA Sevens Rugby Tournament, set for Jan. 24-26, 2014 in Las Vegas, will receive eight hours of coverage, including four hours of live action, from NBC Sports Group. The broadcast schedule was announced following confirmation of the event’s full match schedule by the International Rugby Board.
“The best rugby sevens players in the world will once again compete in Las Vegas during USA Sevens, and we hope fans throughout the world tune in to watch one of the most thrilling sports out there,” said Jonathan First, president for United World Sports.
USA Sevens matches will begin when defending champion South Africa plays Wales on Friday, Jan. 24 at 4 p.m. PST. Fifteen matches will be played on Jan. 24 with play concluding at 9:52 p.m. PST. Matches will be played from noon to 7:20 p.m. PST on Saturday, Jan. 25 and from 9:20 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26. NBC will broadcast live coverage of USA Sevens matches on Jan. 25 and Jan. 26 from 1 p.m. PST to 3 p.m. PST. Those tuning in for the rugby sevens action on Jan. 25 will see Argentina vs. France, Samoa vs. Portugal, New Zealand vs. Fiji, South Africa vs. Kenya, and United States vs. Spain. The live broadcast on Jan. 26 will include the Bowl Final, Plate Final, match to determine third and fourth place, and Cup Final. NBCSN will air a two-hour recap of the previous day’s competition prior to the live broadcasts on both Jan. 25 and 26 beginning at 11 a.m. PST.
Pool matches to determine seeding for the Shield, Bowl, Plate and Cup matches will be played on Jan. 24 and Jan. 25. All first and second place teams advancing out of pool play will have the opportunity to compete for the Cup Final during matches in the latter part of Jan. 25. Pool matches will be played from Jan. 24 at 4 p.m. PST through Jan. 25 at 2:56 p.m. PST. Matches to determine winners of the Shield, Bowl, Plate and Cup will be held Jan. 25 at 4:24 p.m. PST through Jan. 26 at 2:47 p.m. PST. The four USA Sevens Rugby men’s pools are listed below. |
