THE ORGAN

Dear friends of the Organ Recital Series,

Once again, December  has arrived and members of the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will present their annual Advent-Christmas Recital. Please plan to join us on Sunday, December 7 at 4:00 P.M. at Christ Church Episcopal (2000 S. Maryland Parkway - between Sahara and St. Louis). Free parking next to the church can be accessed from Maryland Parkway.

The program will include old favorites and some new and fresh settings of seasonal music. A number of the selections  will feature guest instrumentalists joining our member organists: flute, viola, cello, bassoon, and mandolin.  We  hope you will come and begin your holiday season with lovely Advent and Christmas music.

The recital is free and open to the public. There will be an opportunity to support the chapter's Raymond Barnes Memorial Scholarship Fund through freewill donation. This fund supports young local piano students who have shown an interest in becoming prospective organists by attending one of the regional Pipe Organ Encounters during the summer. These week-long "summer camps" devoted to exploring the pipe organ are sponsored by the National AGO and have been enthusiastically received by the young people attending.

A reception in the Parish Hall will follow the recital.
