A look behind the scenes of Serenade.
Balanchine Trust répétiteur Sandra Jennings has been working with our NBT dancers on the exquisite upcoming performance of Serenade, as part of A Balanchine Celebration. Here, Sandra shares her thoughts on Serenade and George Balanchine from a 2010 interview with the Bolshoi Ballet.
A Balanchine Celebration begins with Serenade, his first American ballet, followed by the Las Vegas premiere of Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, from the Rodgers & Hart comedy On Your Toes, saluting Balanchine's triumphs on both stage and silver screen. The performance's finale, Who Cares?, uplifts and inspires in Balanchine's energetic tribute to the bubbly Americana songbook of George Gershwin.
