A BUCOLIC MUSICAL POSTCARD marks our orchestra’s inaugural performances of three works spanning classical and modern eras. Las Vegas resident and world-renowned composer Michael Torke has a reputation for "some of the most optimistic, joyful and thoroughly uplifting music to appear in recent years" (Gramophone). Hailed as "a master orchestrator whose shimmering timbral palette makes him the Ravel of his generation" (New York Times), he has created a substantial body of works in virtually every genre. Acclaimed Decca Classics recording artist, Maria Radutu has performed throughout Europe and Asia and won more than twenty national and international awards. She joins the orchestra on Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23, a sparkling piece that shows off the virtuosity of both the soloist and the celebrated composer. Ludwig van Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony No. 6, an ode to his undeniable love of and need for nature, brims with poetic beauty. |
