Racing returns to The Bullring at LVMS this Saturday night
LAS VEGAS – Short track fans can get their fix at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend, when NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing returns with a vengeance on Saturday night.
Ten feature races will comprise the evening’s racing slate, the sixth points event of the 2018 for the 3/8-mile paved oval. The Late Model Truck Series – a regional series experiencing a revival after years of inactivity – will make its season debut with a pair of bookend 25-lap features.
The Late Model Truck Series originated in 1997 as the Speed Truck Series under the American Speed Association (ASA). The trucks raced at nearly a dozen different tracks in California, Arizona and Nevada before the ASA disbanded in 2013.
NASCAR Super Late Models drivers will do battle in a 50-lap race, while NASCAR Bombers, Super Stocks and Modifieds also will be in action. In addition, USLCI Legends and Bandoleros, as well as Skid Plate Cars, are part of the night’s schedule.
Saturday’s racing is one of three events The Bullring will host in the next six weeks before action is halted for seven weeks to avoid the Las Vegas summer swelter, so plenty of divisional points will be up for grabs in the near future. The Chris Trickle Classic – hosted to pay tribute to late Bullring racer Chris Trickle who was the victim of a still unsolved drive-by shooting – follows on June 16, with the highly popular Night of Fire on tap to provide great racing and fireworks on Tuesday, July 3.
A fun and affordable event, racing at The Bullring features $2 hot dogs and Coca-Cola products and $3 Budweiser beers. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the LVMS Ticket Office at 800.644.4444 or visiting LVMS.com, and children 12 and under receive free admission when accompanying a ticketed adult.
