It was an exciting, windy evening at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring on Saturday, June 16, 2018. The Chris Trickle Classic featured 10 races.
The first race, a NASCAR Super Late Model Feature #1 (35 laps) had some excellent driving, with #92X, Justin Johnson crossing the finish line first. Following closely behind was #38 Scott Gafforini (Henderson, NV), and finishing third was #21 Dezel West (Henderson, NV).
Four cars started the USLCI Thunder Cars Feature (15 laps) with #42 Chris Bosley (Las Vegas, NV) receiving the trophy. Second place went to #22 Ed Hohman (Henderson, NV), followed by #18 Darin Calloway (Las Vegas, NV).
Four cars also started the Jr. Late Models Feature (30 laps). The 13 year old winner, #12, Kyle Keller (Las Vegas, NV) finished the race with no power steering! Close behind was #24 R J Smotherman (Pahrump, NV) and #48 Cody Kiemele (Perris, CA).
Another 4 car race was the NASCAR Super Stocks Feature. Dominating the 25 lap race was #48 Mason Sargent (Las Vegas, NV), followed by #6 Chad Mattos and #31 Ethan DeGuevara (Las Vegas, NV).
The 12 lap USLCI Bandolero Bandits Feature was won by 11 year old #35G Landon Gresser (Henderson, NV). This was Gresser's 7th win in 2018 on the Bullring track. Second place went to # 71 Jake Bollman, followed by #17A Ashton Leonard (Henderson, NV).
Next up was the 12 lap USLCI Bandolero Outlaws Feature. Winning for the third time in a row was # 14 Amilleo Thomson (Las Vegas, NV). Second place went to #85 Kaden Crouch (St. George, UT) with third place won by #98 Brendan Tracy (Las Vegas, NV).
There was a surprise winner in the 15 lap Skid Plate Cars Feature. The Wonder Woman car, #12 Cindy Clark (Boulder City, NV) held off Racer X (Parts Unknown) to snap Racer X's winning streak. Third place went to #16 James Brazzeal (St. George, UT).
The winner of the 25 lap NASCAR Bombers Feature was #911 Vinny Raucci, Jr. (Las Vegas, NV) for the fourth time in a row at the Bullring. Second place went to #1 Adam Simon (Las Vegas, NV); third place was #4 Kyle Jacks (Las Vegas, NV). As a tribute a long-time Trickle family supporter, Raucci presented his winner's trophy to teammate #21 Michael Miller, who finished in 5th place.
The next race, a 25 lap USLCI Legends Feature was won for the fourth time of the year by #9 Jason Irwin (Albuquerque, NM) with second place going to #98 Jace Jones (Scottsdale, AZ) and coming in third was #1G Michael Todd Glazier (North Las Vegas, NV).
The final race of the evening was much anticipated. The 35 lap NASCAR Super Late Models Feature #2 had 10 cars lined up in reverse order for the start of the race. Starting in the pole position, and leading the entire race, was #34+2 Kayli Barker (North Las Vegas, NV). The track's winningest female driver, Barker became the first woman to win a NASCAR Super Late Model race at the Bullring. This was Barker's 16th win; her first in 5 years. On Barker's bumper, and taking second place was #38 Scott Gafforini (Henderson, NV). Third place went to #61 Dennis Rock (Henderson, NV).
Mark your calendars for the next Bullring race, the Night of Fire event to be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. Among the races will be NASCAR Super Late Models, Super Stocks, Modifieds and Bombers, USLCI Legends and Bandoleros, Skid Plate Cars, and a Figure 8 Trailer Race. The evening will close with a spectacular fireworks display. As usual, children age 12 and under will get in free to the races at the Bullring when accompanied by a ticketed adult.
