My new number one hero in the world. A national treasure.
For the purpose of the exercise I tried to put together my list of top ten singers of all time...Nat Cole, Sammy Davis Jr. Johnny Mathis, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett....pretty nice top five! Next Eddie Arnold, Gene Pitney, Neil Sedaka, Mandy Patinkin......and now maybe Brian Stokes Mitchell. He was that good.
I was unfamilar with the name and face together but very familiar with the face and Reba McIntyre doing South Pacific on PBS. Mitchell opened the New York Stage Series at UNLV in Las Vegas in the 50fth year of the college and its musical history.
Mitchell was just brilliant with a piano, bass and drums and two tons of talent and two 45 minute sets, he was 5 minutes late so he gets a 95 on sacle of show alone he was a million.
Some nice personal info on his history, family, the songs and the world, Mitchell will solo at Carneige Hall October 15, what a treat for the world. He sang all great stuff including This Nearly was Mine without background music or microphone. What a show, what a lovely talent bright young man.
Late, 95 A.
