V the Ultimate Variety Show at Planet Hollywood (formerly the Aladdin) Las Vegas.
WONDERFUL !!!!
Variety it was....comedy juggler Wally Eastwood just 4 stars, the Argentian drummer-comedians just 4 stars, Russian body artists just four stars, excellent magician just four stars, comedy interactive artist just 4 stars and finale music impressionist just 4 starts. One awful loud drummer no stars. What a nice David Saxe production starting on time to a super interested audience who played along. This is one of the nicest shows in town, highly recommended at any price. 99 A+
Now the downer...same venue ...same night...alleged magacian Steve Wyrick ! We were met by some surly black suited impressionist ushers who were not familar with the alphabet. You know...get a ticket with a seat number, put numbers on the seats, match em up in a cordial way like every body else does....not these idiots, they acted like they just got orders for Iraq!
11 minutes late for a 73 minute show that looked like a rehersal. No continuity, thankfully no awful rap music to connect the segments and way too much wondering around in the audience.
I have seen Wyrick at the Lady Luck, Sahara where he was able to produce a multi million dollar theatre that did not work, now here at Planet Hollywood where it did not work for me again. This 9 pm show played to maybe a 100 who appeared with the enthusiasm of having just attended their mothers funeral.
The entire thing just did not look ready and after Wyricks continual kickoff delays and expenditures its puzzling how he gets anything done. Surprising too that Hanks Klok did a spectacular magic show in the same building which I really liked...it closed. They closed the wrong show!
Wyrick did have some nice slight of hand and production themes, I do not dislike him, its that the impression he gives me is not smooth, not playing well and not acceptable to audiences, me in particular. 65 D
