DOUBT

by Ed Bruce edbrucevegas@yahoo.com

A play by John Patrick Shanley.....and what a play it was....theatre at its very best.

The script is the deal and this one, among the best writing I have ever read....or read on stage. I do not think you could receive the emotion and roller coaster trip of feelings by reading the book, it would have to come in the play and IT DID !

NEVADA CONSERVATORY THEATRE production at UNLV, director Michael Lugering and four superior actors told me the story, I knew who the good guys were, I knew who the bad guys were and there was DOUBT about all of them, a tribute to the actors, director and script. Among the pluses, excellent set, excellent lighting, no intermission and riveting sequences right from the top. In December Streep and Hoffman in the the to be released movie....they will not be any better than equity actors ERIC MARTIN BROWN and ANNE DESALVO as the priest and top nun. WHAT A STORY WELL TOLD......HEAVY STORY LINE (possible molestation) and it was topped off by a 45 minute talk back with the audience after the play. Great experience to interact with the cast and director and explore their workload. MUST SEE !

96 minutes, as good a theatre as I have ever seen. 6 minutes late thusly 94 A
