Why do they pronounce AIDA .............. I EE DA ?

Third play of the Super Summer Theatre at Spring .........2008 season...25 miles west of Las Vegas at the Spring Mountain Ranch....the third excellent play.

I was not familiar with the story line...here it is from Broadway review...... "A story of forbidden and unrequited love, two contemporary youths are swept from an exhibition of Egyptian artifacts back in time to live an adaptation of the Verdi opera. Radames, the prince of Egypt is engaged to Amneris, but falls in love with Aida, the princess of Nubia." I am in love with Amneris.........music by Elton John and Tim Rice gives this instant credibility.....Broadway in 2004.....short run !

It was damn good, great set, opening night audio jitters, great costumes, excellent choreography and dance with fine talent, did I mention I am in love with Amneris !


Live theatre....when Amneris came on for her first number....her mike was dead....she plunged on in great style and roamed to stage left where a techincian was able to replant a chip in her backpack prior to her first solo....it worked .......she did it....the audience applauded with abandon recognizing the effort...I did too...it was damn great.

Loved the show it was all new to me, excellent production, a little wind noise in the mikes and they can't tell .....starting at 811 ending at 1012...no intermission....popcorn and sodas, a wonderful experience.
