FEMME FATALE: THE MUSIC OF FILM NOIR

by ed bruce edbrucevegas@yahoo.com

As good a show as anything I have ever seen !

All the elements in place here. Laura Ellis a founding memeber of The Manhattan Transfer in a one woman show....she was sensational, as good a female singer as I have ever seen....in the class with Peggy Lee, Judy Collins, Eartha Kitt and Linda Rondstadt.

This started on time with great old black and white video clips...film noir....Gilda, The Killers and transitions.....this show a well oiled machine written for the videos and vocals of Ellis. Great production....lighting....sound and a lovely five piece combo....drums, piano, bass, and two horns. Vocals from the 50s and 40s well performed and danced by Ellis who used four gowns and looked great in all of them. What a voice and what a song seller she is.

Minor audio problems technically fixed at halftime....a spot light could have added a touch here ......http://www.artslasvegas.org/......Charleston Heights doing a great job finding this kind of talent for our community centers. This show was made for me....you should go to everything....sometimes you hit a home run with stuff like this. Thank You.

100 A+

Laura Ellis is a friend of mine. At the ripe age of 37 there is no way she is a founding memeber of the manhattan transfer. She did go to school in manhattan kansas and her album was produced by Alan Paul, a member of Mangattan Transfer, but a member herself, she is not.
