SORT OF.....
Not many pluses here....11 minutes late...5 bouts...an intermission with Spanish music and not much quality boxing in the first 3 fights. Also non existent promotion...I went to the press conference...wrote a story ...applied for credentials....at the door...my name not on the list.
Not to belittle the event but 12 hours after the fact the result had not made the boxrec web site RESULTS ...main event women...an unheard of quasi title and IN the fight one fighter winning all 30 rounds handily.....awful !
Small crowd...... couple hundred maybe....nice arena...AC...remember what intermission is....an opporturnity to leave....SO I DID. Enough Mexican rap in my life !
HOWEVER....their was great redeeming value here as I met an intelligent historical young writer from Tahoe who I had some speical boxing history interaction with AND a great conversation with HALL of FAME boxing judge Jerry Roth who enlightened me, schooled me, informed me, and helped me understand many of the nuances of the judging game. Here is man with a lifetime career of judging fights....a man of integrity and character and gracious enough with his time to give me some great information.....love ya Jerry !
