FOOTLOOSE THE MUSICAL

In the begining there was Broadway theatre and it was great !

Then there was Las Vegas Strip production shows and they were also great !

Then there was the Utah Shakespeare Festival and it too was great !

Now Tuacahn Amphitheatre Productions and it too was great ! The next level up !

I was overwhelmed last night and alto I have reported from Tuacahn before last nights production of Footloose this was as good as anything I have ever seen ! I forgot ....the damn thing is a ballet and I am the worlds biggest ballet fan....it was perfect. It has been awhile since I refreshed my movie and stage memories about Footloose and here lies the reason why we should all revist classic productions....(in my case I can't remember)....the real reason is different touchs, productions and actors.

This production ....THE TOTAL PICTURE...ALL THE ELEMENTS ! They started on time which is more than can be said for the Lion King in Las Vegas...thusly on my scorecard where you loose a point for every minute late...you can at least start perfect....they did here and then whent up hill !

I went to enjoy which of course I did but I will easily see the pluses (and minuses if there were any...not tonight) !

Great outdoor stage....they can show off cars, horses, goats and utilize the well constructed space.....at Tuacahn they do a hall of fame job of staging and running their sets in and out...great continuity....I loved the sequence where they ran the train over the railroad tracks. Live music ! ! !

Talent....wonderful to see such enthusiastic dancing and acting...everyone with talent, experience and teamwork. Christian Whelan as Reverend Moore fabulous...he looked like my hero Bill Medley....leads Thayne Jasperson and Kyli Rae....perfectly cast.....and Tim Roberts as Willard the show stealer. Everyone dance it was pretty easy to see some work history played into this picture !

Gosh this was perfect....lots of great dance...a real story and a happy ending .

Maybe because it is fresh in my mind ....as good as anything I have ever seen and maybe just because it was so great....the list of all those resonsible for this was in their great program.

144 miles in St George Utah...two hours from Las Vegas....all interstate ....so worth the journey.

Lots of productions at this venue with Annie and Footloose alternating nightly along with other themes ....I am back for Thriller in the fall and the kitties in 2010 !
It always seems to me that I meet a higher class of people in Utah...like basic good behavior...a good example for me.
