HENDERSON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

BY ED BRUCE edbrucevegas@yahoo.com

SEASON FINALE

The Henderson Pavilion outdoor arena damaged by wind and the concert (on an extremely windy night) indoors at the very very perfect Basic High School Theatre.

PERFECT SOUND IN HERE

I arrived early for the pre game show which never materialized but at 7 I got 44 minutes of great rehearsal which was excellent for the music student in me.

Prokofiev Piano Concerto #3 in Major (according to the program) probably left out a letter here ...anyway 26 year old Kiev born Pavel Gintov was sensational and even better on a soft encore. Everyone trying to make a piano fan out of me...progress made...more work to be done.

Sibelius...Symphony #2 in D major...wonderful....great use of all the orchestras insturments and well played...possibly the symphonys finest hour. I loved this piece of music and after the lack of acoustics at noon in the federal building concert this was just excellent.

Next.... June 4 Downtown Events Plaza, Henderson.... for Light Classics Under the stars...count me in.

Rarely does this go late but it did tonight...7 minutes
