WEEKEND IN FLAGSTAFF

What a treat it was !

The big plan is to drive to Flagstaff for the Northern Arizona University-Montana football game.
Of course your ace entertainment writer can never be idle. I call a Montana native, friend and hand ball player with some similar interests. We make the trip.

Friday, 4 hours to Arizona, conversation, nice drive, handball (Martin Ferriter is an A player) quick trip up the hill to the Lowell observatory museum for 2 lectures and 3 telescope viewings (beautiful full moon October 26) dinner and to bed, a four star day.

Dawn,........ more handball (Martin is still an A player) and a great trip to the Northern Arizona Museum of Art. It is a special day with boths, programs and videos. I see a world premire video on the Minutemen (quasi vigilante group trying to keep illegals out of the country)...so so film but it tells the story. This is followed in the same auditorium by a Mexican themed group of dances, mostly kids.....some better than others but truly charming and on time. I saw a colossal irony in these two programs, maybe the directors saw it that way, maybe not. All of it most entertaining. Then football. I have history here with a former NAU coach Joe Salem my mentor at the University of South Dakota and one of his players and former Montana coach Joe Glenn winning a national championship with the Grizzlies. Well it is a great indoor facility and pretty competitive game with Montana always a national threat winning 21-16, the game had lots of elements and started on time with John Carpenters theme music from Halloween, really cool. 96 trip, A
