Sierra Winds....third Friday event at the Lloyd D. George Courthouse...free lunch free music. This 3 principal players from the Las Vegas Philharmonic..... plus two.....flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon....only sensational. All the artists did solos AND played with the group, classical, started on time, in and out, great music, total A+ 100. One more of these on June 20th, Primrose Trio....this Vivaldi....how could you beat this ?
Palace Station poker room, interrupted by a race to update my ballet ticket to Sunday....ballet sold out six times, more to come....poker room just average C- 74
Boxing at the Cox pavilion for ESPN on UNLV campus. They treated me and all journalistS very well....UNFORTUNATLEY the usual unset schedule of events for TV with a promise of boxing at 5 and none til six. ESPN'S Brian Kenney, leading boxing journalist in the world working the event, got to see three interesting events and five of the six boxers came to fight. Not headliner Chris Byrd, the former heavyweight champ who had lost 50 pounds ! Byrd came to box (or try to box) at light heavyweight (175)...he was on Neptune, looked emanciated and got knocked out by Shaun George. Nice to see lots of familiar faces and old friends at the card....actually for entertainment the event good but........ 40 F....they lost 60 points for not starting on time !
Off to the symphony, free at the Henderson pavilion.....Mahler';s 1st...started right on time to the second....only sensational ! Still crying babies and in front of me a woman tried to juggle bottle caps (unsuccessfully) ! Why do these assholes always find me ? only 100 A+ THANKS TO THE CITY OF HENDERSON !
On the cell for hockey updates...the Utah Grizzlies sleep with the fishes.....Las Vegas Wrangers sweep the Western Finals and now advance to the Kelly Cup finals against Cincinnati or South Carolina ! Wranglers with at least two more home games, still the best entertainment in Las Vegas but the Downtown Cultural Series 2008... third Friday is gaining on them ! Another damn A+ 100 How lucky am I to enjoy all this in one day TBCOTA
